Unfortunately I was unable to make Friday night’s festivities. I was told there were intermittent clouds throughout the night but some observing was able to be done. I arrived Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm. Not many people had stayed through Saturday unfortunately. I missed seeing them as it has been over a year if not closer to two. I spent the afternoon having great conversations on various subjects. I also managed to sell one of my Explorer Scientific eyepieces, 18mm 82deg. I don’t really use them as the eye relief doesn’t work well for people who wear eyeglasses. We waited around for the clouds to hopefully clear out, joking when a sucker hole would appear. Had a great cookout grilled dinner.
Evening finally rolled in and the clouds magically cleared out around 8:30pm or 9pm. Everyone had already packed up their telescopes, and I never bothered to get mine out. Instead, I decided to use my binoculars for a bit. Checking out old favorites like M13 and Double Cluster. After a short time, I got out my tripod and camera out and shoot some Milky Way shots for a couple of hours before heading to bed around 11pm or so. Here’s my gallery of shots.
