He has always enjoyed science and teaching, having started college as science education major before changing to psychology. Astronomy has been an interest ever since childhood, when he watched the first satellites crossing the sky. Since joining the New Hampshire Astronomical Society (NHAS) in 1999, he has participated in many sky watches, was Chair of the Outreach Committee for several years, became president in 2017, and started the Library Telescope program, an award winning outreach effort that has placed over 124 telescopes (2017) in NH and has been adopted by astronomy clubs around the world. Marc is a volunteer educator for NASA and the JPL through their Solar System Ambassadors Program. Marc has a backyard observatory but most often uses his night time and solar scopes at sky watches and for sidewalk astronomy. Favorite venues for talks and observing are libraries and schools. Marc has taught semester length courses in astronomy at local private high schools and provides science enrichment programs for elementary schools in astronomy and mineralogy.Saturday evening observing! We all know
It’s time well spent
This is Maine’s premiere star party event. A must see for any amateur astronomer, both seasoned and new to the hobby. I went to last year’s event for the first time and it was a blast. Weather was great. The state park has wonderful dark skies and facilities. Not really roughing it with hot showers. Lots to do during the day with nearby lighthouses and other sightseeing.
